Start with your occasion
Write down three things before browsing: where you would like to go, the kind of company you enjoy and how much time you have. A quiet dinner has a different rhythm from a large wedding. Defining the occasion makes comparisons more useful.
If you are travelling, look for a language you can comfortably converse in. Check the home city separately from willingness to travel. A companion who can travel still needs to confirm your destination and date.
The right person does not need to promise everything. He needs to understand what matters to you.
Compare information, not promises
Compare two or three profiles and read their activities, languages and introductions. A specific biography helps you imagine a conversation; a string of superlatives tells you little. A polished photograph alone does not establish reliability or identity.
When reading reviews, look for details about the experience and its context. No reviews simply means missing information. Avoid filling that gap with assumptions, and do not treat a paid subscription as verification of the professional.
Notice the first exchange
A useful reply addresses your request: date, place, duration and arrangements. You can ask questions and take time to decide. If the conversation becomes pushy or you feel pressured, you can stop without having to justify yourself.
TAKE IT WITH YOU
- Choose the occasion, city and language first.
- Compare a small number of profiles carefully.
- Confirm the details before making commitments.
